The dodgy PAC launched by Elon Musk for the sole purpose of reinstalling Donald Trump has been hit with a class-action lawsuit by disgruntled canvassers.
The suit, reported exclusively by Jake Lahut for Wired, tells a predictable tale of a chaotic billionaire—whose recent crusading for Republican causes is well-documented—funding and “organizing” a dysfunctional-GOTV operation.
Elon Musk’s America PAC and several other defendants, including the reelection campaign for Representative Michelle Steel, a Republican from California, are accused of violating California labor law in a class action lawsuit filed in Orange County on October 30, according to court documents obtained by WIRED. The named plaintiffs, Tamiko Anderson and Patricia Kelly, were canvassers for Steel in October of this year, according to the suit, which alleges that they weren’t paid agreed-upon wages. America PAC is named because it provided campaigning services for Steel.
Also notable about this development is how Elon Musk famously departed California for the soft, Republican bosom of Texas—only to be sued in his former-home state. Two other entities, The Blair Group and Liberty Staffing Services (out of North Carolina and Florida, respectively), are named in the suit, along with other, unnamed John Does.
