Donald Trump announces that attorney Brooke Rollins will be nominated to serve as the Secretary of Agriculture, with the power to influence not just farms but food safety, food assistance programs, grocery stores, school cafeterias, and restaurants.
From 2003 to 2018, Rollins held the titles of president and chief executive at the Texas Public Policy Foundation, once labeled the most influential think tank in the state.
Rollins left the think tank to join Trump as assistant to the president in the Office of American Innovation in 2018, working primarily on prison reforms more in line with GOP-controlled state policies.
In 2020, Rollins was named acting director of the Domestic Policy Council and made public appearances promising a second Trump term would emphasize banning abortion and a focus on religion.
After leaving the White House in 2021, Rollins and other Trump allies formed the America First Policy Institute where she served as president and CEO. The think tank has reportedly drafted nearly 300 executive orders for Trump’s second term.
Ahead of the 2024 election, Rollins teamed up with Christian fundamentalist Lance Wallnau of the New Apostolic Reformation movement on a plan to interfere in the election outcomes of 19 counties in swing states.
Carla Sands is listed as a contributor to Project 2025 on behalf of Rollins’ America First Policy Institute. Sands is also a current or former member of the Council for National Policy.
