On April 20, Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer resigned from her role following an explosive New York Post report about an inspector general investigation into her affair, daytime drinking, and use of taxpayer money for personal trips.
This comes after her chief of staff, Jihun Han, and deputy chief of staff Rebecca Wright resigned on March 2, after the Trump administration threatened to fire them if they did not do so in a day. Another staff member, Melissa Robey, also resigned sometime in March after giving a lengthy four-hour interview to the Office of the Inspector General.
Chavez-DeRemer will be replaced by Deputy Labor Secretary Keith Sonderling, who was already de facto in charge of the Department of Labor anyway, as Chavez-DeRemer was preoccupied with drinking, vacations, and her extramarital affair.
Author’s note
Several White House officials such as propagandist and Director of Communications Steven Cheung and spokeswoman Taylor Rogers vehemently defended Chavez-DeRemer without any counterevidence to offer.
Despite all this noise, Chavez-DeRemer’s resignation, as well as that of her staff, essentially proves her guilt.
