Trump’s State Department reached a deal with El Salvador’s president, Nayib Bukele, to deport both immigrants and imprisoned American citizens to the country’s largest prison, where they would not be governed by the U.S. Constitution and would be treated as terrorists.
Able to hold 40,000 inmates, the CECOT [Terrorism Confinement Center] is made up of eight sprawling pavilions. Its cells hold 65 to 70 prisoners each. They do not receive visits. There are no programs preparing them to return to society after their sentences, no workshops or educational programs. They are never allowed outside.

After finalizing the deal with Bukele, Secretary of State Marco Rubio called it “the most unprecedented, extraordinary, extraordinary migratory agreement anywhere in the world.” Rubio spent several hours at Bukele’s country home yesterday evening.
Deporting Americans would be unconstitutional under a normal president and a nonpartisan Supreme Court.
