Donald Trump nominates Rep. Matt Gaetz as U.S. Attorney General and names Tulsi Gabbard the new Director of National Intelligence. The announcements come amid a flurry of appointments and nominations for his second administration in the past few days.
Earlier announcements include:
Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy will head the new Dept. of Government Efficiency (DOGE), a private team of non-governmental consultants (not an actual federal agency).
Immigration Nazi Stephen Miller will serve as Trump’s “deputy chief of staff for policy.”
Former Acting Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Director Tom Homan will serve as “border czar,” an unofficial non-cabinet position in charge of executing Trump’s mass deportation program.
Rep. Michael Waltz will serve as Trump’s national security adviser.
Fox News host Pete Hegseth is nominated for Secretary of Defense.
Marco Rubio is nominated to head the State Department.
Kristi Noem is nominated for Homeland Security secretary.
Mike Huckabee, former Arkansas governor and father of Sarah Huckabee Sanders, is nominated to serve as Trump’s U.S. ambassador to Israel.
Rep. Elise Stefanik is nominated for Trump’s U.S. ambassador to the United Nations.
Former Rep. Lee Zeldin is nominated to head the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
Trump’s former Director of National Intelligence, John Ratcliffe, is nominated for CIA Director. In 2020, Ratcliffe used the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) to hide U.S. election security details from Congress and promote debunked Russian propaganda.
Susie Wiles, a Trump 2024 co-campaign manager and former staffer on his 2016 and 2020 campaigns, will serve as White House Chief of Staff. Dan Scavino will serve as deputy chief of staff and assistant to the president.
James Blair will join them as assistant to the president and deputy chief of staff for legislative, political and public affairs. Taylor Budowich will serve as assistant to the president and deputy chief of staff for communications and personnel.
Trump’s statement on Matt Gaetz
It is my Great Honor to announce that Congressman Matt Gaetz, of Florida, is hereby nominated to be The Attorney General of the United States. Matt is a deeply gifted and tenacious attorney, trained at the William & Mary College of Law, who has distinguished himself in Congress through his focus on achieving desperately needed reform at the Department of Justice. Few issues in America are more important than ending the partisan Weaponization of our Justice System. Matt will end Weaponized Government, protect our Borders, dismantle Criminal Organizations and restore Americans’ badly-shattered Faith and Confidence in the Justice Department. On the House Judiciary Committee, which performs oversight of DOJ, Matt played a key role in defeating the Russia, Russia, Russia Hoax, and exposing alarming and systemic Government Corruption and Weaponization. He is a Champion for the Constitution and the Rule of Law…
Matt will root out the systemic corruption at DOJ, and return the Department to its true mission of fighting Crime, and upholding our Democracy and Constitution. We must have Honesty, Integrity, and Transparency at DOJ. Under Matt’s leadership, all Americans will be proud of the Department of Justice once again.
Trump’s statement on Tulsi Gabbard
I am pleased to announce that former Congresswoman, Lieutenant Colonel Tulsi Gabbard, will serve as Director of National Intelligence (DNI). For over two decades, Tulsi has fought for our Country and the Freedoms of all Americans. As a former Candidate for the Democrat Presidential Nomination, she has broad support in both Parties – She is now a proud Republican! I know Tulsi will bring the fearless spirit that has defined her illustrious career to our Intelligence Community, championing our Constitutional Rights, and securing Peace through Strength. Tulsi will make us all proud!
