A Pentagon strike on a Colombian boat killed three men officials claimed were terrorists smuggling drugs to the United States. A month later, the Colombian government and press release details on the attack and the victims, contradicting the Trump administration’s story.
At least one of the men was a lifelong Colombian fisherman, Alejandro Carranza, who was well-known in his community.
The Pentagon claimed the boat was in international waters (belonging to no country) and en route to the United States, but the boat was actually in Colombian territory and not moving. Its engine had failed and those aboard were awaiting help.

The Dept. of Defense claimed that a white item seen in satellite images of the boat was drug cargo. Colombian fishermen told the press that it was very clearly “part of a trammel seine net, which is used to trap the fish and bring them onto the boat.”
This is the second in a series of Pentagon strikes on boats in the Caribbean.
