On June 16, the Trump Organization announced that it was starting a mobile phone enterprise called Trump Mobile.
Trump’s two sons, Donald Trump Jr. and Eric, both of whom are executive vice presidents of the Trump Organization, announced it on the tenth anniversary of Trump’s announcement that he was running for President.
In yet another case of the Trumps profiting from their father’s presidency, they are utilizing his image to hawk phone plans. The “flagship offering,” the 47 Plan, named after Trump being the 47th President, costs $47.45 a month (the 45 commemorating Trump being the 45th President as well).
Additionally, the Trump Organization is releasing a new “T1 Phone,” which is in gold, Trump’s favorite color, as consistent with his propensity for conspicuous consumption. Eric Trump has pledged to make the phones entirely in the United States “eventually.” Aside from pricing, it was not clear why it could not be made in the United States immediately. The phones are likely to include Chinese-produced parts.
Nilay Patel, co-founder of technology news website The Verge, told CNBC: “I don’t think they’re going to sell a phone that has anything to do with the United States on any kind of timeline that makes sense.” He added that the only phone which could be sold for $499 by September would be “undoubtedly a rebranded Chinese Android phone.”

The two Trump sons humiliated their father when they released a coverage map that featured the Gulf of Mexico despite Trump’s executive order to rename it as the Gulf of America.
