On September 23, Trump announced tariffs on furniture and trucks.
“We will be imposing a 50% Tariff on all Kitchen Cabinets, Bathroom Vanities, and associated products, starting October 1st, 2025. Additionally, we will be charging a 30% Tariff on Upholstered Furniture,” Trump wrote in a Truth Social post Thursday evening.

The stocks of furniture companies tumbled immediately after. Furniture prices were decreasing until Trump imposed tariffs on China and Vietnam, with prices set to increase further after the implementation of the new tariffs. Trump vaguely accused other countries of “FLOODING” the American furniture market.
Trump also announced a 25% tariff on heavy trucks.
“In order to protect our Great Heavy Truck Manufacturers from unfair outside competition, I will be imposing, as of October 1st, 2025, a 25% Tariff on all ‘Heavy (Big!) Trucks’ made in other parts of the World,” Trump said in a Truth Social post Thursday.

Previous tariffs on steel have already increased the cost of trucks. Trump did not make it clear if “the 25% tariff would apply to all heavy-duty trucks or only those that do not comply with the US-Mexico-Canada Agreement” (USMCA).
In consideration of previous court rulings, it is possible that these tariffs are illegal.
