Marko Elez, a 25-year-old DOGE staffer hand-picked by Elon Musk, has resigned after the Wall Street Journal asked the White House about his racist posts. Elez had full access to the Treasury Department’s payment system, controlling trillions of dollars.
Elez had posted things like:
- “Just for the record, I was racist before it was cool.”
- “You could not pay me to marry outside of my ethnicity.”
- “Normalize Indian hate.”
- “I would not mind at all if Gaza and Israel were both wiped off the face of the Earth.”
Elez additionally advocated for repealing the Civil Rights Act and is in favor of a eugenic immigration policy.
On Friday, February 7th, Elon Musk posted a poll to Twitter/X asking if DOGE should rehire Elez. The overwhelmingly MAGA responses have so far indicated he should.
Donald Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance have also called for Elez to be reinstated. J.D. Vance’s wife, Usha Vance, is Indian American.
