On June 1, the Department of the Interior informally, then formally in the succeeding day, announced that the Trump administration plans to lift environmental regulations on about half of the National Petroleum Reserve on Alaska’s North Slope.
The plans were specifically announced by Interior Secretary Doug Burgum, Energy Secretary Chris Wright, and Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lee Zeldin. All three visited Alaska as the plan was announced.

Burgum announced additional road projects among others while in Alaska.
In response to a question, Burgum said the administration plans to prioritize development of the planned Ambler Road, a 211-mile mining access road through the Brooks Range, and the proposed King Cove Road, an 11-mile road connecting King Cove to the Cold Bay airport, among other projects.
