On April 8, Trump terminated the entire board that served the Presidio Trust. The trust oversees the Presidio National Park, which is located in San Francisco, California. All six members were appointed by former President Joe Biden.
Last year, Trump signed an executive order to downsize the Presidio Trust, among other federal entities, and eliminate the agency that manages it, despite the fact that that the trust has not received any federal money since 2013. He called it and the other federal agencies “unnecessary,” without further explaining why the trust in particular is unnecessary.
The terms for three of the board members had already expired by the time Trump terminated them from their positions. They were still there because, according to Trust legislation, board members will continue to serve until they are replaced.
Trump’s attempt to destroy the National Park is already failing. Presidio is still fully operational thanks to its staff. Its revenue comes from “rents and local businesses.”
