On August 29, the Trump administration sent termination notices to the 532 remaining workers of the U.S. Agency for Global Media (USAGM), the parent company of Voice of America (VOA).
Kari Lake, who is overseeing the demolition of USAGM, posted:
“Tonight, the U.S. Agency for Global Media initiated what is known as a reduction in force, or RIF, of a large number of its full-time federal employees,” Lake wrote. “We are conducting this RIF at the President’s direction to help reduce the federal bureaucracy, improve agency service, and save the American people more of their hard-earned money.”

The move is likely to be contested in court. Lake has already failed to dismiss VOA Director Michael Abramowitz, and must testify under oath by September 15 along with two other aides. Lake was reportedly “verging on contempt of court” for not disclosing her designs on VOA.
