In a scathing letter to senators, former director of both FBI and CIA under multiple presidents urged U.S. senators to vote no on Kash Patel for FBI and Tulsi Gabbard for DNI.
William Webster, a Centenarian, is the only person in American history to ever lead both agencies and plainly communicated the specific threat both candidates pose.
“I am deeply concerned about the potential nominations of Mr. Kash Patel to lead FBI and the inclusion of Tulsi Gabbard as DNI in intelligence roles,” the letter stated. “Congresswoman Gabbard’s profound lack of intelligence experience and the daunting task of overseeing 18 disparate-intelligence agencies further highlight the need for seasoned leadership.”
For her part, Gabbard received a lukewarm reception on Capitol Hill during her meetings with senators. Patel brings quite a bit of additional baggage with his candidacy, including his changing roles at the Pentagon after Trump lost in 2020.

I realize basic journalism is hard for mainstream media, but after nearly an hour of searching I could find only one source link for Webster’s letter: CNN’s Zachary Cohen, which was in image form on Twitter. Posting it to, say, Document Cloud, would take all of like 10 seconds, and we need that letter posted somewhere for posterity—particularly as a marker if Republicans do, in fact, vote either (or both) these goons through.
Webster’s letter is important, that much is certain, but I cannot take it completely seriously because it contains this sentence that was not intended as comedy (emphasis mine): “While Mr. Patel’s intelligence and patriotism are commendable, his close alignment with Trump raises serious concerns about impartiality and integrity.” Actually, the first part contradicts the last, because Patel’s (and MAGA mafia’s more broadly) concept of “patriotism” is feverishly trying to overturn democracy in 2020 on behalf of Casino Mobster.
Which is the textbook definition of character deficiency.
