On May 27, Trump pardoned Paul Walczak, who was prosecuted for stealing money from his employees and refusing to pay employment taxes.
Walczak’s pardon application, without evidence, claimed that he was being prosecuted for his mother, Elizabeth Fago’s, political support of Trump. However, the pardon would only be issued less than three weeks after she attended “a $1-million-per-person fundraising dinner last month that promised face-to-face access to Mr. Trump at his private Mar-a-Lago club in Palm Beach, Fla.”
Despite Walczak’s claim of innocence, he pleaded guilty to two of thirteen counts of tax crimes on November 15, 2024.
Elizabeth Fago not only bribed Trump with a million dollars, knowing full well that doing so would get her son out of prison and spare him from having to pay over $4 million in restitution (a fine that the family could easily afford), she had also hosted three fundraisers for Trump’s campaign. Her and Stephanie Walczak were also involved in the dissemination of parts of Ashley Biden’s stolen property, her diary, in an effort to damage former President Joe Biden’s 2020 campaign.
Trump got Fago and Stephanie Walczak out of further legal trouble by suspending the Justice Department’s investigation into Ashley Biden’s stolen diary on February 5.
The White House echoed the false claim that Paul Walczak was being persecuted for his family’s politics.
