Two months after Donald Trump ordered the Pentagon to withhold military aid from Ukraine (and lie to Congress about it), the White House releases the aid.
The decision comes after public outcry and new investigations in response to an anonymous whistleblower complaint, which the White House and Justice Department are blocking from Congress. The complaint outlines how Trump was withholding the nearly $400 million in aid until Ukraine produced evidence he could use against Joe Biden and other Democrat rivals.
Senator Lindsey Graham, Republican of South Carolina, and Senator Richard J. Durbin, Democrat of Illinois, said the administration told them on Wednesday night that it would release $250 million, which is intended partly to train and equip Ukrainian forces defending against Russian incursion.
