On November 16, Trump announced that he will be selecting Will Scharf, his personal attorney for the role of White House staff secretary.
Scharf has a history of unquestioned loyalty to Trump, defending him in the federal election interference and immunity cases. He also supported the nominations of Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett in Trump’s first term.
Despite Trump’s claim of choosing cabinet and other appointed positions on a meritocratic basis, Scharf would certainly not be the last personal lawyer hand-picked by him.
