With the nomination of Ed Martin now withdrawn, Trump announced on Truth Social that his new selection for interim-D.C. attorney would be (former) judge and television personality Jeanine Pirro. From Max Matza at BBC News:
Donald Trump has appointed Fox News host and former New York prosecutor Jeanine Pirro as interim US attorney for Washington DC. The announcement comes after Trump withdrew his first pick for the job after he lost key Republican support in the Senate, which votes on such positions. Trump called Pirro ‘a powerful crusader for victims of crime’ in a social media post announcing his selection. Meanwhile, critics described her as unqualified.

The report in BBC added Pirro would serve in an interim role, but there were no further details given as to length of time or if she would be formally nominated at a later date. For his part, Martin (according to CNN) will still be working for Trump in a different capacity: “Martin will be moving to the Department of Justice as director of the Weaponization Working Group, associate deputy attorney general and pardon attorney.”
Both Pirro and Martin were outspoken supporters of the “Stop the Steal” lie in 2020, in which they (and others) tried to convince the world the election was illegitimate (it was free and fair, according to any Earth 1 news outlet). Martin is also involved with Council for National Policy (CNP).
AUTHOR FOOTNOTE
If a provably unhinged operative has been moved laterally to work “weaponization” and pardons I think we’d all be smart to keep eyes on whatever Eddie gets up to in his that role. But back to Judge Franzia aka Jeanine Pirro: it’s been, shall we say, a “troubled” few decades for the former prosecutor and judge.
As NY Daily News reported (seriously, read the whole story, linked below, as it has all the tea), Pirro had been under federal investigation for a scheme, involving Bernie Kerik, to bug her estranged-husband’s boat; and of course there’s her famous Senate “run” to challenge Hillary Clinton, in which she famously “lost” page 10 of her prepared remarks.
I found it worth noting that finding the full-length video was exceedingly difficult, leading me to speculate—and it’s only speculation—that Pirro may have tried to scrub the page-loss clip off the internet.
In all, according to Newsweek, Donald has named 23 presenters from Fixed Noise to his cabinet—some from primetime, others tapped from the Giggly Couch Tumors of Fox & Friends.
