On an unknown date, sometime in July, Greenland Energy, a Texas-based company established in 2025, deployed “a barge shorewards” and unloaded “a dozen containers” to Jameson Land in Greenland, which is an autonomous territory of Denmark. This was without Greenland’s permission, causing the territory to issue a warning regarding the incident.
Greenland Energy has pledged to spend $60 million to drill two wells to tap what they believe to be $1 trillion of crude oil beneath Jameson Land. In June, a representative for the company lied, stating that they had permission to deploy the drilling equipment in Greenland. In reality, Greenland has not issued any oil permits since 2021; British company 80 Mile has already secured the rights to explore Jameson Land. While Greenland Energy stated that it intends to take a majority stake in the exploration process in exchange for financing it, the Greenlandic government must still approve of this plan. Greenland has not forcibly removed the equipment, and Greenland Energy claims to be in talks with the territory’s regulatory body.
On August 1, Trump made a threatening post on Truth Social against Greenland, sharing an image with him looking down over a typical town there. This makes Greenland Energy’s claim that the activities of the company are irrelevant to annexation efforts questionable, given the timing of the post.
Greenland Energy is not just any company; it is a significant element of the Trump criminal organization. Major shareholder and chairman of the firm, Larry Swets, has access to Trump via his wife, who posted pictures of herself in Mar-a-Lago in early 2026. Phil McGraw, more popularly known as Dr. Phil, is working with Greenland Energy to make a documentary on their work. Carol Craig was appointed to Greenland Energy’s board sometime in July; he works on Trump’s Golden Dome project. Trump has claimed that Greenland is crucial for the Golden Dome defense system.
On September 12, Greenland Energy intends on transferring 300 shipping containers of drilling equipment from Canada, with the well sinking to begin in October. These plans were publicly released by Greenland Energy despite Greenland not yet providing formal rights to do so.
