Trump consulted by Israel before striking Gaza, breaking ceasefire agreement

On Monday, the Trump administration was contacted by Israel before their deadly strikes on Gaza, breaking their tenuous ceasefire agreement. The strikes resulted in over 400 casualties, with hundreds more injured, the majority of which were women and children. This comes on the heels of Trump’s well-publicized plans to force Palestinians off of the land.

White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt was quoted saying, “As President Trump has made it clear – Hamas, the Houthis, Iran, all those who seek to terrorize not just Israel, but also the United States of America, will see a price to pay. All hell will break loose,” mimicking President Trump’s prior statement to Hamas, telling them they should release all of their hostages or “let hell break out.”

The strike was a result of the latest escalation in the decades-old Israel-Palestinian conflict and Hamas’ attack on Israel on October 7th, 2023, which led to 1,200 Israelis being killed and 250 being taken hostage. Israel has since killed 48,000 Palestinians in retaliation.

A temporary ceasefire agreement had been reached after long negotiations and pressure from the outgoing Biden administration on January 15, 2025, going into effect on January 19th, in a three-stage deal to secure the release of hostages. Israel broke the ceasefire multiple times, ending it with these airstrikes.

The recent attack and consultation follows President Trump’s plan to displace Palestinians from Gaza and have the United States take control over the land, planning for it to become the “Riviera of the Middle East.”

The President recently shared an AI-generated video of what this plan would entail for Gaza on Truth Social, which showed golden statues of himself, bearded belly dancers, what seems to be a hotel simply labeled “Trump Gaza,” and the President lounging on the beach of the strip with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
