On August 9, Trump appointed former personal lawyer, staff secretary, and chairman of the National Capital Planning Commission (NCPC) Will Scharf as White House counsel, the most important legal advisor to the White House, effective September 1.
Scharf utilized his role as chairman of the NCPC to persecute former Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell with baseless allegations of excessive spending on renovations for the worn-out Federal Reserve building. Scharf also leveraged his position to advance the construction of Trump’s ballroom at the expense of the East Wing of the White House.
This marks new heights for Scharf’s role in Trump’s inner circle.
