Trump administration requests $58 million security upgrade after Kirk shooting

Days after the assassination of right-wing activist Charlie Kirk, the Trump administration has asked Congress to approve an extra $58 million towards security for the executive and judicial branches. The administration also supports protecting members of Congress, however left the legislative branch to decide specifics on that. The request states that the funding “is necessary due to increased threats against public officials.” The money would remain until September 2027.
