Donald Trump becomes the first president impeached twice. He now accounts for half of the impeachments in United States history.
This impeachment is the result of his incitement of at least 15,000 devoted followers to attack the Capitol on January 6, 2021. Investigations (so far) have turned up evidence that the attack was planned weeks in advance, and some arrested have admitted they planned to kill Mike Pence and Nancy Pelosi.
