Stephen Miller tells Justice Dept. to increase child separation

Stephen Miller emails an article to a Justice Department official. The article details how some prosecutors at the U.S.-Mexico border are refusing to prosecute migrants entering the country with young children. Miller wants to know why.

This results in Deputy A.G. Rod Rosenstein meeting with border prosecutors a week later to demand that every parent, no matter how young their child, is prosecuted.

He dismissed concerns from at least one prosecutor that children under 5 would be separated from parents if the adults were prosecuted.

“If they are referring, then prosecute. Age of child doesn’t matter,” Mr. Rosenstein said, according to the notes of one person at the meeting.
