The seventh known death in an ICE facility since Trump took office occurred when 44-year-old Marie Blaise was refused medical support at a Florida detention center.
Blaise, a Haitian woman detained on February 12 in the U.S. Virgin Islands, died hours after complaining of severe chest pains. Staff at the Deerfield Beach detention center gave her some pills and waved her off.
Makysm Chernyak, a 44 year-old Ukrainian man, and Genry Ruiz Guillén, a 29-year-old Honduran, also died in Florida detention centers. Four victims unidentified at the time of this writing died in ICE custody in Texas, Arizona, Puerto Rico, and Missouri.
Editor’s Note: We will not be able to cover every known death that occurs at Trump’s detention centers, but we’ve included this post on the timeline so the public knows it’s happening.
