On April 17, the United States Treasury Department extended its sanctions waiver on Russian oil shipments for the second time since March 6. This sanctions waiver will last another thirty days.
This is despite Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, on April 15, ruling out the alleviation of Russian and Iranian oil sanctions.
This decision amounts to aiding a wartime enemy, because Russia has provided wartime enemy Iran with intelligence on American troops and assets in the Middle East. Bessent, Trump, and others responsible for this policy may have committed treason by aiding a wartime enemy.
Whoever, owing allegiance to the United States, levies war against them or adheres to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort within the United States or elsewhere, is guilty of treason and shall suffer death, or shall be imprisoned not less than five years and fined under this title but not less than $10,000; and shall be incapable of holding any office under the United States.
