Russia’s deputy prime minister Sergei Prikhodko uses a fashion influencer named Mira Duma to forward an invitation to Ivanka Trump. The invitation is for her father to attend the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum in June.
Miroslava “Mira” Duma owns a venture capital firm she uses to invest in fashion. Her husband, Aleksey Mikheev, works in commerce and trade. An invitation coming from Duma looks less suspicious than an invitation coming from a Kremlin official.
Ivanka forwards the email to her father’s assistant, Rhona Graff, two weeks later. Trump does not attend the forum.
In March 2016, Russian officials use another third party to try and contact Trump.
