Sometime in 1985, having known Donald Trump for only six years, Roger Stone begins telling people that the Roy Cohn protégé is going to be president of the United States.
Stone told people—told people that Trump was going to be the president. “He told me in 1985,” veteran Democratic strategist Hank Sheinkopf said. “Roger told me,” added Michael Caputo, a Republican strategist and Stone protégé, “that one of the first times he ever met—among the first times he ever met with Donald Trump—that he knew that he could become president. And that he told him that.”
