The Project 2025 Tracker estimates that at least 42% of the Heritage Foundation’s far-right authoritarian blueprint is already completed.
Given the events of this weekend, we revisited the 2025 Mandate for Leadership this morning to see how Trump’s actions in Iran align with Heritage’s wishlist.
Here are the highlights:
1) Project 2025 repeatedly equates the threat of Iran with dangers posed by historically dangerous countries, specifically China and North Korea, without providing any evidence for this comparison.
2) On page 180, the Heritage Foundation states that “the Islamic Republic of Iran [and] the Islamic regime… is at its weakest state in its history,” and recommends that the U.S. take this opportunity for a regime change. Sound familiar?
3) The author of Chapter 6, Kiron Skinner, also states that the next Republican president (Trump) has a duty to help “free Iran” using our capabilities and those of our allies.
4) Project 2025 claims that the Iran nuclear deal had actually helped Iran “expand its nuclear weapons program” (a blatant lie) until Trump ended it in his first term — and that any new deals with Iran would be a mistake.
This suggests that the Trump administration was already planning to strike Iran when they entered negotiations on a new nuclear deal in April.
5) The Heritage Foundation urges that the U.S. must support and encourage a revolt by Iranians against their government, as well as provide military support for Israel’s attacks against Iran (p.185).
6) Finally, the Trump administration must pursue new programs to “educate the American people” on Iran’s threat to our national security and economic stablity (p.556).
Leave it to the Heritage Foundation to admit that Iran’s current government is the weakest it has ever been while claiming it’s as great a threat to the U.S. as China.
Folks, the U.S. Intelligence Community found no evidence that Iran is developing nuclear weapons.
Years after Israel and the U.S. have succeeded in overthrowing Iran, we will still be discussing whether we had any reason to attack this country.
This is looking to become Trump’s own “War on Terror,” but the only terror is our own government terrorizing the Middle East for more military bases and oil.
Call your lawmakers. Reject this war. Reel in Trump.
Thank you for staying informed,
