Israel forms Mossad, their own national intelligence agency, a year after the government worked with Robert Maxwell’s Czech agency.
The organization, officially named the Institute for Intelligence and Special Operations, was created by Israel’s co-founder, David Ben-Gurion.
Mossad’s role in government both in Israel and foreign nations is so secretive that even saying “the Mossad” was prohibited in Israel until the 1960s.
From the start, the organization has been known for extremely illegal criminal operations justified by simply saying “it’s for state security.”
