ICE led a military-style raid on an apartment building in Chicago, using a Black Hawk helicopter and military-grade equipment to break into the homes of American citizens at around 1 a.m. while people slept.
The agents broke down doors, barged in through windows, ransacked residents’ apartment complexes, and used flash-bang grenades to round up adults and children alike, going as far as zip tying children and separating them from their parents.
A detained 62 year old citizen named Pertissue Fisher claimed agents asked for her name, date of birth, and asked if she had any warrants; they then proceeded to handcuff and detain her for hours despite holding no open warrant.
Another resident, 67 year old Rodrick Johnson, says that ICE agents busted into his apartment and forced him out in zip ties. Johnson was let go after being detained for three hours and being denied a lawyer.
On October 4th, the Department of Homeland Security Secretary, Kristi Noem, posted a video of the ICE raid with the caption “Chicago, we’re here for you.”
