On January 28, Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chairman Brendan Carr announced that environmental reviews under consideration since 2022 will be removed.
The plans included stricter environmental guidelines as they related to the construction of new cell towers.
“The Biden-Harris Administration’s stated goal of connecting millions Americans to high-speed Internet service foundered on reams of red tape and a progressive policy agenda that needlessly delayed the promise of new infrastructure builds,” Carr said.

This statement flies in the face of reality. The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, signed by former President Joe Biden, allocated $65 billion in Internet infrastructure. This is on top of trillions spent on creating and upgrading infrastructure, something that Trump promised, yet failed to deliver in his first term, unlike Biden.
