FBI Twitter account infiltrated by Trump propaganda, sparks internal investigation

The Trump Timeline:

Sources linked at end of page.

On October 30, a verified Twitter account belonging to the FBI called “FBI Records Vault” tweets about Fred Trump (Donald’s father) with a link to an 8-page file describing him as a drama-free philanthropist, which he wasn’t.

Over the next three days, the account also tweets links directing users to much longer files about Hillary Clinton and past investigations.

The records themselves were publicly available. However, when the account comes to life on October 30, it’s the first time the account has posted in over a year.

On November 3, the FBI opens an investigation into its own verified Twitter accounts. (Yes, that really happened.)

We’re unsure what became of the investigation, but the tweets remain on the account to this day.
