On or shortly before September 14, the FBI opened investigations into “leftist groups” in Utah for possibly assisting Tyler Robinson in the murder of Charlie Kirk. The exact groups under investigation are unknown at the time of this post.
The next day, Donald Trump told the press that various groups “on the Left” are being investigated for being “scum that speaks so badly of our country.” He provided no specific criminal allegations but said the targeted groups would be announced soon.
On Tuesday, September 16, law enforcement officials stated that there is no evidence of a connection between Robinson and any organized group and that the investigations are ongoing.
These investigations come as the GOP and their influencers claim that the murder of Charlie Kirk was committed by a “radical leftist” and/or planned in advance by Democrat-supporting organizations.
At the time of this post, the latest evidence against Tyler Robinson suggests he is a centrist who had a personal vendetta against Kirk for his hatred towards the LGBTQ+ community.
Robinson is bisexual, and his partner is transgender. Aside from their sexual and gender identities, there is nothing to suggest either is a leftist or politically active in general. (See the source “Ken Klippenstein” below for more details on Robinson from his friends and Discord messages.)
