On August 22, 2018, after Michael Cohen pleaded guilty to violating campaign finance laws for the Trump campaign, the New York Times published an op-ed explaining why Trump should be impeached. That day, Jeffrey Epstein spoke to Ken Starr, a high-profile attorney who represented him when he was charged with sex crimes against minors in 2007.
Epstein and Starr discussed a strategy Trump could use to avoid consequences for the hush money payments that Cohen is going to prison for. Just over a year later, in January 2020, Ken Starr enters the United States Senate as a member of Trump’s impeachment defense team.
Another Epstein attorney (and alleged client) Alan Dershowitz is also on the impeachment team.
This news breaks on November 12, 2025, in emails from Epstein released by the House Oversight Committee. In the email dated 8/23/2018, Epstein discloses that he spoke to Starr the day prior.
