Donald Trump tells viewers of Sean Hannity’s Fox News program that Black Lives Matter protesters are terrorists. The director of the FBI’s Counterterrorism Division admitted last year that the Bureau couldn’t identify a single murder by a black activist.
“Every night we’re going to get tougher and tougher. At some point there is going to be retribution because there has to be,” said Trump in the interview. “These people are vandals. But they’re agitators, but they’re really, they’re terrorists in a sense.”
Trump’s argument is that damaging statues is an act of terrorism; it is not. The statement is nothing more than fear mongering and laying the foundation for Trump to send in federal agents to attack protesters.
In early June, Trump tweeted a letter that called protesters “terrorists,” but the letter was not written by him.
