Despite trailing behind Joe Biden both in the popular vote and the electoral college, Donald Trump claims he has already won the election, says we must stop counting votes, and spews other lies while he gaslights the nation.
Here are the lies, in order by when they appear in his speech:
I mean, literally we were just all set to get outside and just celebrate something that was so beautiful, so good.
The Trump campaign actually cancelled their election night celebrations early in the day, knowing the numbers wouldn’t be in their favor.
It’s also clear that we have won Georgia. We’re up by 2.5% or 117,000 votes with only 7% left. They’re never going to catch us. They can’t catch us. Likewise we’ve clearly won North Carolina.
At the time of this writing, at 3 p.m. Eastern on Thursday, November 5, neither Georgia or North Carolina have a clear winner.
We’re winning Pennsylvania by a tremendous amount of votes.
Pennsylvania did not start counting over 1.4 million absentee ballots until the next day. At the time of this writing, there is less than a 2% margin between Trump and Biden in Pennsylvania.
We’re winning Michigan, but I’ll tell you, I looked at the numbers. I said, “Wow.” I looked, I said, “Wow, that’s a lot.” By almost 300,000 votes and 65% of the vote is in and we’re winning Wisconsin.
Joe Biden won both Michigan and Wisconsin.
They knew they couldn’t win so they said, “Let’s go to court.” And did I predict this, Newt? Did I say this? I’ve been saying this from the day I heard they were going to send out tens of millions of ballots. They said exactly, because either they were going to win or if they didn’t win, they’ll take us to court.
Democrats did not file a single lawsuit on Election Day. The Trump campaign opened multiple lawsuits against states on Election Day. At the time of this writing, there are lawsuits in at least four states: Michigan, Nevada, Georgia, and Pennsylvania.
This is a fraud on the American public. This is an embarrassment to our country. We were getting ready to win this election. Frankly, we did win this election. We did win this election. So our goal now is to ensure the integrity for the good of this nation.
The fraud is actually Donald Trump claiming victory in states he didn’t win, suing those states, and then claiming that Democrats are taking him to court to steal the election.
We want all voting to stop.
This is anti-democracy and anti-American. It is representative of autocracies and dictatorships around the world. But, to Trump’s credit, it’s true. Stopping votes is exactly what he wants.
