Trump claims Biden votes are illegal, networks cut him off & Murdoch turns against him

Donald Trump gives a 16-minute speech filled with lies, conspiracy theories, and more gaslighting. MSNBC cuts him off after 30 seconds.

Trump was ranting about “illegal votes” when anchor Brian Williams broke in to say, “Here we are again in the unusual position of not only interrupting the president of the United States but correcting the president of the United States.” He added, “There are no illegal votes that we know of. There has no been no Trump victory that we know of.”

The blatant lies are so extreme that even the New York Post calls him out. The Post is owned by the Murdoch family (like Fox News) and usually doesn’t hesitate to share right-wing propaganda and conspiracies.

Some highlights from the speech:

“If you look at the legal votes, I win very easily.”

There is no evidence that any voter fraud has taken place this election. All votes counted so far have been legal.

“They (Detroit and Philadelphia) are trying very obviously to commit fraud.”

There is no proof, Trump has no proof, and this is just typical Trump. Even though Detroit still has some votes left to count, Michigan already has a clear winner: Joe Biden.

“I’ve said very strongly that mail-in ballots are going to end up being a disaster… It’s getting worse and worse every day.”

So far, every state has followed state and federal laws regarding absentee ballots. Judges have shut down multiple lawsuits that, without any evidence, claim otherwise.

Trump demanded a bifurcated election—in which Democrats would largely vote by mail (a wholly legal voting method) and Republicans largely vote in person (a wholly legal voting method). He then tried to discredit all mailed votes. This is what we’d call “attempted election theft.”

Trump also claims that states where the vote is too close to call have a “voting apparatus… run in all cases by Democrats” and that the vote counts are fraudulent.

From NPR: “In fact, the secretaries of state in Georgia and Nevada — two of five states where a clear winner has not yet been determined — are Republican. In the case of Georgia’s Brad Raffensperger, Trump actually endorsed him for the office in 2018.”

The other thing here is the president keeps saying the votes are rigged by Democrats, without explaining how Republicans down ballot managed to not only hold onto their seats but the House caucus made gains.
