At an unknown date, former Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) agent Jared L. Wise, who took part in the January 6 insurrection, where he called for the criminals that stormed the Capitol to murder police officers, was hired by Ed Martin, director of the Justice Department’s so-called Weaponization Working Group.
Martin was initially nominated by Trump to become the United States attorney in Washington, but this was later rescinded when Trump realized that he did not have the Senate votes. Martin is so profoundly radical that Trump’s rubber stamp Congress could not stomach voting for him. Martin was an advocate and defense lawyer for the January 6 attackers. He worked for Russian propaganda, appearing on Russian state media over 150 times.
A person with knowledge of the so-called Weaponization Working Group explained Martin’s rationale for hiring Wise:
It remains unclear exactly what role Mr. Wise will play as Mr. Martin’s adviser. But one person familiar with the working group’s activities said that Mr. Martin was proud to have Mr. Wise on his team, adding that there was no better person to serve on the weaponization task force than someone who had experienced the federal government being weaponized against him.
If “we could genetically design an adviser” to Mr. Martin, the person said, he would look like Mr. Wise.

Focusing on Wise, he showed signs of becoming disgruntled, as his career at the FBI stalled after supervisors in New York were unsatisfied with his performance. He would later join Project Veritas, where he was assigned to infiltrate teacher unions in Ohio, Wisconsin, Michigan, and Kentucky.
Wise’s extremism became kinetic, in contrast, on January 6, 2021. Justifying violence against police, he compared them to Gestapo agents. As other attackers fought with police, he cheered, “Kill ’em! Kill ’em! Kill ’em!”
This comes as Trump misled the public on his views on police. He conned the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP), for instance, into endorsing him during the 2024 election, only for the FOP to regret this decision when Trump pardoned and commuted the sentences of the January 6 criminals, including Wise.
