On July 12, Attorney General Pam Bondi announced on social media that federal charges would be dropped against Dr. Michael Kirk Moore Jr. of Utah.
Moore and three others were indicted by a grand jury in 2023. His practice, Plastic Surgery Institute of Utah, allegedly destroyed “COVID-19 vaccines, issuing fake CDC vaccination cards, and providing saline injections in place of vaccines to patients, including children.” Despite MAGA’s and allied Qanon’s supposed emphasis on the defense of children, this would amount to child abuse and endangerment.
According to the indictment, nearly 2,000 fraudulent vaccine cards were issued, paid for with cash or “donations” to a designated charity.
Moore, Kari Dee Burgoyne, 52, Kristin Jackson Andersen, 59, and Sandra Flores, 31, were charged with conspiracy to defraud the United States, conspiracy to convert and sell government property, and aiding and abetting the unlawful disposal of government supplies.

In an April 22 press release, Bondi conflated vaccine mandates with anti-Christian bigotry. This makes no sense, for the Bible or any significant theological doctrine never condemns the use of vaccines.
Trump initially bragged about the development of COVID-19 vaccines and Operation Warp Speed during his first administration, but has since thrown red meat to his largely anti-vaccine base by appointing Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who is not a doctor or a scientist, as Health and Human Services head. On January 27, he also reinstated service members who refused to take a COVID-19 vaccine, even if they endangered other service members.
