The Alt National Park Service begins warning federal employees that the new administration is looking at agency employees’ social media accounts to determine if they are sufficiently loyal to Donald Trump.

About The Alt National Park Service (AltNPS)
The Alt National Park Service (AltNPS) was a movement that began around the time of the inauguration of President Donald Trump in January 2017. After the Trump administration imposed restrictions on the communications of various federal agencies, including the National Park Service, unofficial “rogue” or “alternative” social media accounts emerged. These accounts, which included the AltNPS, aimed to communicate scientific facts, environmental concerns, and information about climate change that they felt were being suppressed or underemphasized by the official channels.
The AltNPS specifically emerged as a response to the Trump administration’s temporary suspension of the National Park Service’s Twitter account after it had retweeted images comparing the crowd size at Trump’s inauguration to that of former President Barack Obama’s.
In 2025, AltNPS serves as “the official ‘Resistance’ team of the U.S. National Park Service.”
